Resignation of Senate Chair Adam Young
Dear Students,
Today, Friday, March 21st, I formally announce my resignation as Chair of the University Student Senate and relinquish my Senatorship entirely. Serving in this capacity over the past two years has been one of the most rewarding yet challenging experiences of my academic and personal journey, and I could not be more grateful. My decision to step down is a bittersweet reflection on both the meaningful achievements we've achieved collectively and the belief in the continued progress our community has made.
When I first joined the Senate, my vision was to uplift student governance, create a platform for genuine representation, and serve as a voice for students across the university. I am proud to say that, together, we've made meaningful strides in those areas—had I not, you would not be receiving this letter now. In many ways, my departure is a natural conclusion to my work.
However, as with these accomplishments, there have also been challenges that have underscored the importance of our work now and far into the future. Throughout my time, I've witnessed an institution that could do more to support its students, including transparency, resource allocation, equity, accessibility, and student representation, all of which need dedicated support. These challenges, while difficult, have only strengthened my resolve to continue advocating for positive change, whether inside or outside of the Senate.
While I am stepping down from my role, my commitment to the values of student empowerment, community, and progress remains unwavering. I am confident that The New School's future is bright, and I look forward to watching all of you continue to shape it. Our work together has been a testament to the power of student voices, and I am hopeful that our progress will pave the way for even more extraordinary accomplishments moving forward.
Thank you for the opportunity and honor of representing and working alongside all of you. I have cherished the memories, relationships, and growth I've experienced here. I eagerly anticipate this community's future accomplishments in new ways, remaining ever hopeful for the meaningful transformations yet to come to The New School.
With sincerity and hope,
Adam D. Young
